Hello!
First and foremost, THANK YOU for considering taking this journey with us. We are incredibly grateful that you are willing to dedicate so much of yourself to giving us the gift of parenthood. A little about us: We are L and K, a couple in Cary, NC who have been on the journey of building a family for more than six years. We’re technically a family of three–our 5-year-old pit bull, Buddy Holly, is the center of our world. We love traveling, playing pickleball, enjoying good food, and spending time with our families. K is an avid golfer, and L has recently become a mahjong fanatic. On a typical Friday night, you’ll find us drinking wine and playing board games with friends. We are very involved with a local pit bull rescue group and are almost always fostering a dog (Buddy is a GREAT foster brother).
We have been together for 14 years and married for 8½. We met in Raleigh in 2012, when L took a job at the front desk of an engineering firm where K had been working since 2006. We realized pretty quickly that we had found something special in one another (who else in the world loves online geography quizzes??). In September of 2016, K proposed while on a hike in Glacier National Park, and we married a year later and took an amazing honeymoon in Kenya. We bought our first home in the suburbs shortly after getting married and decided we were ready to start a family. We assumed it would happen quickly and easily for us like it seemed to for everyone around us, but after 3 miscarriages in our first year we decided to get help at a fertility clinic. We have been working with the clinic for five years now, navigating many uterine surgeries and multiple rounds of IVF. We feel like we’ve tried it all—we even participated in a clinical trial last year for a new surgical protocol—but after multiple embryo transfers that didn’t take and two more devastating miscarriages, we’ve decided that the best chance we can give our embryos at life is through a gestational carrier.
L has dreamed of being a mom since she was a little girl, and has been a babysitter, nanny, daycare worker, and camp counselor—basically anything involving kids! K is really still a kid at heart and can’t wait to have a little one to play with and love. We want so badly to be parents, to share our love and joy with a child, and to nurture a new life. So, we want to say thank you, again, for considering being our surrogate. Thank you for giving us hope after years of struggle. Thank you for being willing to give the gift of new life to other people. We want to join you on this journey and provide you with all the support we possibly can. We would love to attend appointments with you, send you care packages, become friends, and welcome you into our family. We can’t wait to meet you and begin our surrogacy journey!
Sincerely,
L and K
More about their journey:
Like many people struggling with infertility, L & K’s life has felt like it’s been put on hold over the past 6 years as they’ve focused on trying to start a family. Their dream is to have children in the next few years and finally get to start their journey as parents, going to soccer games and taking family camping trips. L & K know their path to achieve this dream will likely only be possible with the support of an exceptional gestational carrier willing to share in this journey.
They hope to partner with a GC who is warm, kind and interested in carrying for intended parents who would love to be very present. They are happy to follow your lead but feel excited about the idea of frequent chats, sending care packages, and getting to have you at their baby shower. They would to be at as many appointments as possible and present during the delivery. They would prefer to have full discretion regarding decisions about termination but are open to setting a limit of when a termination request can be made.
